4 roof solar array for Wiltshire Council
Wessex Energy fitted PV across 4 roofs at Five River Leisure Centre
Wiltshire Council has set itself the objective of being a carbon neutral county by 2030. A critical part of achieving this goal is enhancing the sustainability of its buildings. Five Rivers Leisure Centre had previously invested in Solar energy generation, but sought Wessex Energy’s support in enhancing capability and efficiency of its rooftop PV infrastructure
Solutions
Wessex Energy designed and installed a new roof top solar array to co-ordinate with a previous and existing Wessex Energy PV Installation. The expanded systems across four roofs increased deployment of PV by 411kWp. The additional capacity now sees site wide installed renewable DC power exceed 450kW, and the new array generates 363 MWhr of carbon free electricity.
Five Rivers Leisure Centre now has the bulk of its photovoltaics in a true East West configuration. This gives the site a longer PV generating day with a lower peak assisting with complete self-consumption of generated renewable electricity. Wiltshire Councils green credentials were further improved by the sites carbon reduction of 70,000Kg of CO2, which equates to 3,228 trees planted
