Steam calorifier replacement at Northampton General Hospital

CPS completed a large Steam plate exchanger project in a live working environment

Northampton General Hospital is a busy working healthcare facility providing valuation customer care that could not be interrupted.

Despite the need to replace existing steam calorifiers, upgrade the existing Building Management System (‘BMS’) and enhance the monitoring of plant equipment, the hospital had to remain occupied with all systems remaining functional during replacement.

CPS was brought in to conduct the works, and engaged in careful design and planning in order to avoid any service interruption.

Solutions

CPS isolated and removed existing Steam Calorifiers and replaced them with new Steam to LTHW and LTHW to DHW plate heat exchangers in various plant rooms across the site.

The project required careful planning and coordination as the building was still fully occupied while the works were taking place and systems had to be kept functional during replacements.

As part of the project BMS upgrades took place controlling all new equipment and linking into the head-end system to offer remote control and monitoring of the newly installed plant.
